Apolipoprotein B is a protein with a molecular weight of 550 kDa and pI 4.7. It is the primary apolipoprotein of Low Density Lipoprotein; the main lipid transport protein for cholesterol, triglycerides and phospholipids. High levels of APO B, along with low levels of apolipoprotein A1, indicate a risk factor for atherosclerosis. APO B consists of two types; apolipoprotein B100 and apolipoprotein B48.
